Used in the management of dyslipidemia and the prevention of cardiovascular events. It lowers plasma cholesterol and reduces the incidence of atherosclerotic complications in both primary and secondary prevention.
Atorvastatin NP 80 mg
Before taking atorvastatin, the patient should have followed a standard cholesterol-lowering diet and should continue with it during treatment with atorvastatin. The dose should be individualized according to baseline LDL cholesterol levels, the treatment goal, and the patient’s response. Primary hypercholesterolemia and combined (mixed) hyperlipidemia
Initial dose: 10 mg once daily
Therapeutic response is observed after 2 weeks, and maximum therapeutic response is usually achieved by 4 weeks. The response is maintained during long-term treatment. Heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia
Initial dose: 10 mg once daily
Doses should be individualized and adjusted every 4 weeks up to 40 mg daily.
